Launching his political campaign in Uttarakhand state where Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on January 30, 2012, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the money sent by centre government for various schemes has been siphoned off and not reached the needy poor. Money for MNERGA, Kumbh and various schemes was siphoned off. The money meant for the common man was misutilised by the state government. He also alleged corruption in allotment of Hydro Electric Power Projects in the state. Congress (I) leader alleged that 17 Hydro Electric Power Projects were allotted to a company and there was huge scam in it. He highlighted several cases of land grabbing and corruption. The Congress (I) general secretary said states ruled by BJP were steeped in corruption and referred to Karnataka and Uttatrakhand as examples where former BJP chief ministers Yedduruppa and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had to quit their chief ministerships due to corruption and scams under their BJP governments.
