Slamming the opposition parties particularly BJP for back tracking on passing the strong Lokpal Bill in Parliament, Congress (I) President Sonia Gandhi has said the fight against corruption is the prime agenda of Congress (I) and that her party will not rest till the Lokpal is a reality. It is on record that no other political party has done so much in this direction as Congress (I) has done, Sonia Gandhi said while addressing public meetings for the UP Assembly elections 2012. “Congress (I)-led UPA government by enacting the “Right to Information Act “has introduced the culture of transparency and accountability. By enacting this law not only has the fight against Corruption increased but also in Government and Non Government institutions, departments and bodies the spade work has increased” said Sonia Gandhi and added “The faith of the aam aadmi on democracy has increased. Corrupt forces have developed a feeling of fear and terror”. “Timely action carried out by the government has increased the confidence of the aam admi to stand and fight against corruption” claimed the Congress President. Highlighting that UP needs a change in government Sonia Gandhi urged the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that her party would provide corruption-free, transparent and responsive government which they have been missing under the parties like BSP, SP and BJP.
