Rajiv Gandhi : Met Sonia the first time in Cambridge, and the first time I had seen her was convinced that she is the right girl for me.
Sonia Gandhi: I came here because I was madly in love with my husband.
When I came to this family, I was a complete 'anari' on what was going to come.
Rajiv Gandhi: After coming to India she has become totally Indian. A lot of things she learnt from Indiraji about our Indian traditions and culture and in some areas she has a better understanding than me.
Between Sonia and my mother there has been an amazing relationship. In a way Sonia was like a daughter to her. It's possible that she had two sons and no daughter, that wish got fulfilled. For Indiraji Sonia was always in her heart and she really loved her a lot.
Sonia Gandhi: Someone was un well or unhappy , she would immediately notice and she would immediately do something about it. Perhaps by jotting down two lines for instance I remember when I got married my mother came to the wedding and she stayed about a month and when she left obviously a sad moment for me and my mother inlaw sent me a little note 'Hi Sonia, this is just to tell you that we all love you and that totally melted me.
