Slamming Mayawati for her sudden concern for Muslims on the eve of Assembly poll, Congress (I) has said she is simply cheating Muslim to garner their votes. Muslim population of the state is asking where she was for the last five years. If she was really concerned about their welfare why did she give ticket to persons of criminal background who did not remember Muslims after the election? Her government not only ignored Muslim they also suffered under her rule, said Congress (I). It is only Congress (I) which has been concerned with the issues of Muslims. Recently Congress (I) led UPA government announced 4.5% quota for minorities for reservations in government and educational institutions. Sachhar Committee recommendations for socio-economic improvement in the status of Muslims have been implemented in Congress (I) ruled states while Mayawati has not done so in UP.
