Rahul Gandhi: Mayawati govt encouraged corruption

Reminding the people that during 2007 Assembly elections Mayawati had promised to provide corruption-free government, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has accused her for encouraging corruption rather than tackling it.  All non-congress governments have encouraged corruption in one form or the other during the last two decades, said the Congress leader.
Rahul Gandhi has been spearheading the Congress campaign in the poll bound state of Uttar Pradesh where the assembly elections are underway. While addressing a number of poll rallies in the state Rahul Gandhi said that the two decades old non-Congress rule dragged the state backwards. “While all other states are surging ahead, the state of UP which is the most populous state in the country, is lagging behind” said the Congress General Secretary.
We witnessed corruption under SP.  But Mayawati’s BSP government has turned out to be worst, Rahul Gandhi further said. The Congress leader also alleged that she turned the government into a trading company where items and services are being sold for a negotiated price. As a result there is rampant corruption. While corrupt ministers, legislators and middlemen are making money, the poor are being compelled to pay bribe for getting anything done.
Rahul Gandhi said the people gave twenty two years to the parties like BJP, BSP and SP but got no result; this time they should give a chance to Congress (I) and, assured that the people will see the positive changes within five years.
