Bundelkhand people greet Rahul Gandhi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi once again visited Bundelkhand after a gap. A huge crowd was waiting for him patiently though he was late because of bad weather.  It was because of the initiative of Rahul Gandhi the Central Government sanctioned a relief package for the drought-hit Bundelkhand.
Though he was almost five hours late, the crowd did not lose patience and waited at Damele stadium at Mauranipur, situated 65 km away from Jhansi. “There was a drought. People were starving to death,” Rahul said, recalling his first visit to Bundelkhand in 2008. He said that Chief Minister Mayawati should have come there. He narrated how he had taken a delegation of the locals to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking a package for Bundelkhand.
Rahul Gandhi, who had done several such interventions to help the people addressed four public meetings in Lalipur and Jhansi districts during the day. He also commented that had NDA leaders visited Bundelkhand, they would not have ever given the slogan of “India shining”.
Rahul Gandhi is on a five-day tour to poll bound Uttar Pradesh from January 17 to 21.
