Rahul Gandhi rubbishes ‘India Shining” slogan

Addressing a Congress workers’ meet at Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the non-Congress governments in UP, during the past 22 years, have pulled the state backwards. On the third day of the second phase of Congress’ Campaign in the run up to the upcoming assembly polls in the state Rahul Gandhi promised that a Congress government will lead Uttar Pradesh back to the top position again.
Rubbishing the ‘India Shining’ slogan of BJP led NDA he said “Some parties came out with a slogan “India shining”. They coined out the slogan sitting in big bungalows and roaming around in helicopters. They could not realize the reality. But the people of the country showed them that India was not shining. There are no roads, electricity or water and without these India can not shine. You gave a befitting reply and elected a Congress led Government at Delhi”. He then questioned the incumbent Mayawati regime in the state and said “Chief Minister of UP says that MGNREGA is of no use. “While all other states are acknowledging that MGNREGA is the most useful policy UP Chief Minister says that the scheme is of no use”, said Rahul Gandhi and continued “The funds send to the state are being eaten up by Mayawati’s elephant in Lucknow. Normally elephants eat and grass but Mayawati’s magic elephant eats money”.
