The Indian National Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has once again weaved threads of awareness about the pitiable state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh under Mayawati government, on Day 4 of his ongoing UP Tour which reached Dumariyagunj on Friday.
The young leader came sharp against the BJP’s election manifesto slogan in the last general elections in 2009. The BJP had put forward the slogan, “India Shining”. He said the slogan didn’t make any sense as the whole of India rather more of India is not actually shining. Development and progress is not there everywhere.
“Since 2004, there is UPA government in Delhi. When we fought in 2004, then the opposition’s slogan was ‘India shining’. Don’t know from where they got that slogan. Our slogan was common people’s government, the poor’s government. The opposition projected India shining but they didn’t eat at your house, didn’t drink at your house.”
“There’s development in India but not much in the villages. India cannot shine till every person in India is not poor. It will shine the day there won’t be any poor. They sit in studios and argue. They fly in helicopter. Yes, it’s shining indeed - in their house, in their AC car. But it’s shining in not in village.”
