BJP opposed Lokayuktas to shield its CMs: Congress (I)

The country now knows that the real villain for scuttling Lokpal Bill was BJP.  It was BJP which was shouting at the top of the voice for its time bound enactment.  Lokpal Bill was drafted in consultation with Anna Hazare’s Team.  A Consensus was worked out on as many points as it could be reached. Even BJP, which was party to proceedings of parliamentary standing committee, agreed with proposed Lokpal Bill.  But when the Bill came up before Parliament BJP back traced on flimsy grounds. While for Centre there is provision for Lokpal, for states there is a provision for Lokayuktas.  This provision would have exposed the colossal corruption in BJP ruled states. BJP opposed this provision for Lokayukta in states, along with as many as 187 amendments, to shield its Chief Ministers against graft, said Congress (I). Now people have seen real face of the BJP, said Congress (I) President Sonia Gandhi.

Mayawati failed to provide good governance in UP: Congress (I)

Lashing out against UP Chief Minister for bad governance and corruption in the state, Congress (I) has said time has come for Mayawati to account her misdeeds of the last five years to the people of UP. Trusting that she would work for dalits, poor, and sarv samaj people put her in government.  But once in power Mayawati forgot the people, said Congress (I).  Mayawati’s greed for money crippled the administrative machinery in the state. She favored real estates companies at the cost of farmers whose lands she forcibly acquired and handed over to private builders. Instead of encouraging industrial growth which could provide badly needed employment opportunities to people, Mayawati’s policies created conditions that forced industries to shut down.  Under central government sponsored MNREGA scheme huge money was provided for making available employment to needy poor but the money went into the pocket of Mayawati’s ministers instead of reaching the needy poor.

Congress blames Mayawati for NRHM scam

Accusing UP chief minister Mayawati for protecting her corrupt ministers, Congress (I) has said despite repeated public agitations led by Congress (I) against colossal financial irregularities in National Rural Mission funds, Mayawati did not order CBI probe in the multi crores scam under her government. Some areas of UP being poorest in health care services central government sent NRHM program with funds amounting to Rs 10,000 crores.  Instead of spending the money of improving rural health care services, the money was allegedly swindled by Mayawati’s ministers.  The race to loot central funds led to murder to three doctors who were handling NRHM program. At last Allahabad High court only ordered CBI probe in the scam. In connection with ongoing probe BSP leaders, former family welfare minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and former health minister Anant Mishra in Mayawati government have been summoned by CBI. Mayawati’s ministers did not hesitate to make money at the cost of people’s health, said Congress (I).
