Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday lashed out at Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Government and Samajwadi Party (SP) in the state for the bad state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a poll rally in gathering in Mirzapur on the last day of campaigning for the second phase of assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi said that these parties had betrayed the people in the state and that the people should support Congress.
"Mayawati Ji came to power, you trusted her. You removed Mulayam Singh ji from power in 2007. There was so much anger in you against SP," said Gandhi.
"Now you trusted Mayawatiji, what did she give you except the magical elephant which eats up all the money," he added.
"Do you want development in the state or not? If you don't need development then clearly you don't want Congress. If you want to change UP, develop the poor; make schools then see what we have done in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Assam. Then you support Congress," he added.
